LifeQuest Centre for Reproductive Medicine is very pleased to announce that Kaajal Abrol, BSc (Hon), MD, FRCSC, REI, has joined our expanding team of physicians as the newest Reproductive Endocrinologist and Infertility Specialist (REI).
Dr. Abrol graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Toronto. In 2010, she became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Obstetrics and Gynecology; and in 2012, she completed a Fellowship in the area of Gynecologic Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) at the University of Toronto.
Throughout her training, Dr. Abrol has received many distinctions, honours, scholarships and awards, including The Dow Hickson Scholarship from the Faculty of Science at McGill University, the Dean’s Honours List at the Faculty of Science at McGill University, the Ivan H. Smith Memorial Studentship from the Faculty of Medicine at McMaster University, and the Paul Luc Gratton Prize for Resident Research Proposal from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Ottawa.
Dr. Abrol has authored and co-authored a range of scientific posters, research papers, and presentations on a range of topics related to the treatment of infertility. Her current clinical and research interests include polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), fertility preservation for oncology patients, and improving clinical outcomes through assisted reproductive techniques such as in vitro fertilization and frozen embryo transfer.
Dr. Abrol is currently a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS), the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada (SOGC), the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Toronto (SOGT), the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), and the Ontario Medical Association (OMA). In addition, Dr. Abrol is an active member on the Board of Directors of Fertile Future, a Canadian charity organization dedicated to providing education and assistance to young cancer patients seeking fertility preservation therapies.

Cecile Burrell joined the LifeQuest team as a staff nurse in 1995, after her graduation. Two years later she became the nurse co-ordinator of the Cycle Monitoring Department. Patients have gone out of their way to mention that Ms. Burrell's expertise is enhanced by her kindness and personal interest in their well-being. Most recently, she was appointed to the position of Nurse Manager. In this role, she will coordinate with the nursing staff to supervise all patient services, and will work closely with our physicians to ensure the highest quality care for all LifeQuest patients.
Dr. Cadesky, a Reproductive Gynecologist for over 20 years, trained in Toronto, Vancouver and Baltimore. Dr. Cadesky is a founding partner of LifeQuest Centre for Reproductive Medicine. He has been Lifequest’s Medical Director for over 15 years.
In addition, Dr. Cadesky is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Toronto, as well; he is a member of the REI Division. Dr. Cadesky is a Staff Physician at Mount Sinai Hospital and the University Health Network. He is certified in both abdominal laser surgery and abdominal/pelvic ultrasound.
Dr. Cadesky is a member of the IVF Directors section of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society as well as being on it’s board. He is vice chairman of the REI division of the Ontario Medical Association.
His current research interests include studies in embryo implantation, as well as improvement in low ovarian responder protocols.

A graduate of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Alberta in 2009, Dr. Beth Gunn completed her Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) Fellowship at the University of Toronto in 2011.
She has received numerous distinctions, scholarships and awards, including a research grant from Mount Sinai Hospital department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In addition, Dr. Gunn has made numerous academic presentations on a range of topics relating to the treatment of infertility, has published in peer reviewed journals, and has taught students and residents at the University of Toronto in the areas of obstetrics and gynecology and infertility.
Her current clinical and research interests include: Celiac Disease and Infertility, ovulation induction in patients with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), and improving clinical outcomes in assisted reproductive technologies.
Dr. Gunn is currently a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS), Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada (SOGC), The Ontario Medical Association, and the Canadian Medical Association.

Dr. Laskin is an expert in Reproductive Immunology and autoimmune diseases in pregnancy. He is well known for his research and clinical trials in this area since 1980, and is the Director of Canada’s largest program devoted to the study and treatment of 'unexplained', recurrent miscarriage -- the T.E.R.M Programme. He studied immunology at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD, as part of his medical training.
Dr. Laskin has been invited to present the results of his research at numerous international medical conferences in North America and Europe on the role of the immune system in recurrent pregnancy loss. His research has been published in the New England Journal of Medicine, as well as many other peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Laskin is a founding partner of LifeQuest Centre for Reproductive Medicine, as well as the founding Director of the Obstetric Medicine Program, Department of Medicine, University of Toronto.

Jim Meriano's international reputation as an outstanding embryologist is based on his achievements over the past 20 years in the field. He established the pre-implantation genetics program at LifeQuest. He was the 1998 recipient of the LIFE AWARD (laboratory innovation for embryology) a national award recognizing excellence. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and is a member of several associations including ALPHA Scientists in Reproductive Medicine, CFAS, and ASRM.
Dr. Judith Perry received her medical degree from the University of Ottawa in 1991 and completed her internship in Winnipeg. In 1992, she accepted a position as a Clinical Associate in Medical Oncology at Toronto’s Princess Margaret Hospital, where she worked until 1997; shortly thereafter, she entered the field of Family Practise medicine and developed her expertise as a skilled family physician.
In 2006, she developed a special interest in the area of fertility medicine, and since then has focused her clinical practice in this field. Dr. Perry joined the LifeQuest team as a family physician with special expertise in infertility in 2010. Since then, Dr. Perry has worked closely with Drs. Cadesky and Laskin and all of LifeQuest's Reproductive Endocrinologists to provide patients with a range of medical services that include initial fertility testing and assessments, Cycle Monitoring, and Intrauterine Inseminations.

Dr. Sony Sierra has been a specialist in infertility and recurrent miscarriage since 2006, and is an assistant professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Toronto.
She has published widely in peer-reviewed journals, and authored chapters in prestigious textbooks, as well as presented papers at national and international conferences. Her current research interests include infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss and implantation failure, and PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome.)
Dr. Sierra is the Ontario representative to the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS), as well as co-chair of the REI subspecialty committee of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Toronto. She is also an active member of the Society of Ob/Gyn of Toronto, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the European Society of Human Reproductive and Embryology. Dr. Sierra believes that involvement and participation in these established and well-respected societies will ensure expertise and up to date knowledge that she can pass on to her patients.

Jocelyn Smith’s specialized background in the support of patients facing infertility issues was solidified by her 13 years of experience at Toronto General Hospital, including seven years as its IVF Co-ordinator. She went on to co-author the fertility guide, Making Babies, in 1990, and to speak nationally and internationally on the topic of infertility at numerous medical and nursing conferences. After more than 25 years in the field of infertility nursing, Jocelyn is shifting her focus: she will use her considerable experience as an RN in the new position of Accreditation Coordinator. In this role, Jocelyn will be working with Accreditation Canada and The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario to ensure that LifeQuest meets and exceeds the standards of both Accreditation Canada and the CPSO.
