What is empowerment? Empowerment is simply whatever you think it means. I don't believe there is any limitation to the word, however some would argue that taking your clothes off for money or enhacing your body would not classify as female empowerment.
Maybe it means being able to break through barriers, to take risks and to not be afraid of what other people think. If making your way up the corporate ladder is empowering to you then it certainly is empowerment. Doing whatever makes you happy, having a passion and standing up for what you believe in, I think that is empowering.
More opportunities for women equals more flexibility. As women advance in their careers, become breadwinners and co-breadwinners, their role in the family changes too. According to U.S. President Barack Obama, a workforce that's half women changes everything. When women are given the necessary resources and support, women thrive and when women thrive the nation thrives.
For empowered women this means breaking traditonal female roles, flexibility and more opportunity to pursue careers. Men can be the ones to pick the kids up from daycare when they are sick because women are also busy in their careers and do not necessarily have to be the primary caregiver.
