As a specialist in infertility and recurrent miscarriage since 2006, Dr. Sony Sierra brings a wealth of clinical and research experience to the clinic.

Dr. Sierra is a graduate of the University of Toronto School of Medicine and completed her residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology. She continued her post-graduate education with a Royal College of Canada accredited fellowship program in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of British Columbia, which included a research fellowship at the University of Chicago.

Currently, Dr. Sierra is an assistant professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Toronto, and is involved in the teaching and mentoring of students at various stages of training in their medical career. In addition, she is a clinical associate at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre where she performs reproductive surgery.

She has published widely in peer-reviewed journals, and authored chapters in prestigious textbooks as well as presented papers at national and international conferences. Dr. Sierra has received several awards for research during her fellowship from both the CFAS and the Society for Gynecologic Investigation. Her current research interests include infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss and implantation failure, and PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome.)

Dr. Sierra is the Ontario representative to the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS), as well as co-chair of the REI subspecialty committee of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Toronto. She is also an active member of the Society of Ob/Gyn of Toronto, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the European Society of Human Reproductive and Embryology. Dr. Sierra believes that involvement and participation in these established and well-respected societies will ensure expertise and up to date knowledge that she can pass on to her patients.

Dr. Sierra is frequently invited to speak to members of these societies, as well as at general practice clinics and at local hospital rounds to provide up to date information on the management of basic infertility and recurrent pregnancy loss.

Dr. Sierra is committed to providing excellence in the management of infertility and miscarriage with a gentle, and culturally compassionate approach. We are delighted to have her at LifeQuest.

Dr. Beth Gunn has joined LifeQuest Centre for Reproductive Medicine as an REI, or Reproductive Endocrinologist and Infertility Specialist.

Dr. Gunn is a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Alberta, where she also completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology.  In June 2009, she became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in the area of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and in 2011, completed her Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) Fellowship at the University of Toronto.

She has received numerous distinctions, scholarships and awards, including a resident research grant from Mount Sinai Hospital department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. J. A. Campbell Young Investigator Award for Research in Celiac Disease, the Gold Humanism Honor Society-Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award from the University of Alberta, and Special Excellence in Endoscopic Producers Award as well as the James Crookes Surgical Award, both from the University of Alberta.

Dr. Gunn has made numerous academic presentations on a range of topics relating to the treatment of infertility, and has taught students and residents at the University of Toronto in the areas of obstetrics and gynecology and infertility. Dr. Gunn frequently attends and has presented at both national and international continuing medical education and professional development conferences.

Her current clinical and research interests include: Celiac Disease and Infertility, ovulation induction in patients with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), and improving clinical outcomes in assisted reproductive technologies. Dr. Gunn has co-authored a range of articles throughout her training in a number of prestigious medical journals.

Dr. Gunn is currently a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS), Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada (SOGC), The Ontario Medical Association, and the Canadian Medical Association.

Dr. Gunn is looking forward to establishing and building her new practice at LifeQuest. We are very pleased to have her as part of the team.
